We discover that Dylan Thomas' birthplace is a hop, skip and jump from where we are living. We knock and the door to the semi-detached house opens. We are 'welcomed' by an unsmiling, moustached man who ushers into the living room and asks us what we know about Dylan. He seems satisfied and we settle into the sofa and with twinkling eyes and good humour, Geoff Haden gently unfolds his and Dylan Thomas' story. You can find out more here.
How on earth did he preserve this house and why ... well perhaps this explains it. Richard Burton reading Under Milkwood... how good is that?
His tiny bedroom, where he wrote most of his works , is a monk-like cell next to the airing cupboard.
We loved it... Thank you Geoff. I know we kept you way after time, but you were so gracious and interesting... even took time to take our photo.
