Hay on Wye that is. Take a look at this blog, I think it says it all.
We are on our way to see mum again. A bit of a dreary morning which matched our mood. Always a sad time visiting mum and so we thought Hay on Wye would lift the spirits... which of course it did ... it is such a fun place. Guess what I bought... a pen!
I'm not sure mum recognised me at first but eventually she cuddled up, tucked her head into my shoulder and slept for most of our visit. I "chatted" to other residents. There seems to be an age where all inhibitions are gone. One "fellow" who had beautifully manicured and painted nails, and a fine pearl necklace, repeated constantly "So now you know. It's done. This is who I am." Silence and then "This is who I am, so now you know. So now you know.
Mum wakes and giggles... thank goodness no painful memories happening there.
Nottingham is our next port of call. We booked to see a JB Priestly play... well we are in the North.
Nottingham Playhouse was quite a surprise - the outside modern with this stunning "Sky Mirror" sculpture by Anish Kapoor. Inside however was the traditional proscenium stage well suited to the rather static "Dangerous Corner!
Loved this sculpture which is in Upper Parliament street but don't seem to be able to track down the sculptor - I think it could be called "Typical Nottingham Residents"... Does anyone know anything about it?
