You can take the girl out of the Manor But you can't take the Manor out of the Girl

Of course coming back to Sheffield is always a nostalgic experience and this year was no different...except I got to visit one of my favourite places..EVER.  The Manor Library.  It may not seem much to anyone else but for me it was an absolute haven.  I joined at 4 years old the year after it had opened.  It had two huge stained glass windows - one of Peter Pan and one of Cinderella.  The Children's Library was segregated from the Adults library and was ruled by a bevy of kindly, knowledgeable librarians who firmly ruled the quiet areas, carefully monitored the books we read, gave us the great honour of being library monitors, put on stupendous plays and of course read to us.  Reading Circle was a joy of my life... What would I have done without it.

I had visited the graves of various family members checking out what needed to be done, when on impulse I ducked into the library.  In seconds I was awash with emotion!  The current librarian carried on the tradition by bringing up the archival photos and chatted with me.  I loved it.

These days I get great street Cred from having grown up on the Manor.  I don't remember it as rough and tough, poor maybe but not a bad place to grow up.

Chris sent me these great photos.  When we were kids we were like sisters going on holiday together.

Of course coming back always reminds me of Dad... still love him to bits.
