Nostalgia and all that....

While Roger was gallivanting to the cricket, I had a wonderful day just "following my nose" and exploring.  First of all I caught up with my nephew Mark, in Nottingham.  As he lived with us for a year in Manly, we have many close ties.  Can't believe he was only 19 when he came to us.... memories of him babysitting Caleb, parties at Birkley Road, and passing his driving test and getting his catering qualifications.... good on you Mark.

For some time we've both been exploring our family histories both on the Howard and Lester sides.  I have always been interested in my mother's cousin Agnes who was a singer .  The family story goes that I was to have been named after her, but my dad on filling in my birth certificate managed to call me Julie... well July and Julie are very similar aren't they?  (OMG so glad I wasn't called Aggie like so many other girls at my school!).

Mark told me that he had visited a church with a Grotto in Shepshed and that one of the Stations of the Cross that my grandfather had subscribed to its purchase and that his name was on the back....Found the church, found lots of information BUT a new priest who told me that each of the Stations of the Cross did have subscriptions but when they took them down in 2000 they didn't record who they were!

So a fab day exploring the Bullring, Loughborough Market etc and of course catching up with Mark.
