Off again.. Kissamos, Gramvousa & Balos call

Billy the Warrior is renamed Weary Willie and we decide he is too unreliable and we leave him at home, hiring a new VW for our journey to Kissamos, where we intend getting a ferry to Gramvousa and Balos.

At coffee time there is of course, a delightful taverna overlooking a deserted beach!

A couple of hours later we pull off the road when we see the sign Fish Taverna and find a quirky restaurant.  A grim faced woman is washing the floor.  "Ah we are too early" I say turning to leave.   "No.  No.  Come. Come." We sit at the table and wait and wait and wait as she continues hosing down everything in sight.  We decide to leave... but she rushes over with menus.  "Fresh fish?" I ask.  "Nay, Nay" (Yes, Yes) she beams.  So we sit down again.  Off she goes back to her hosing.

We walk out onto the deck to fill in the time (how much time we are not sure).  Holy Moses... we see where we are sitting is on a concrete block about to collapse into the sea.

At that moment the grim faced woman returns.  "Sardinas?" I ask... She beams.  Roger asks for an omelette.  She grimaces.  "Is that OK?" Roger asks.  She sniffs and walks slowly to the kitchen.

I'm amused that she is so delighted with me as she serves the grilled sardinas and love it even more that she snarls as she delivers Roger's omelette... Why?  We will never know.

The sardines were delicious by the way.
