First stop Sheffield

Our first stop in UK is with our friends Maria and John, who live in a great house right next to Graves Park - a favourite haunt of our family when I was a child.

I've spent many an hour here, picnicking, playing football, cricket and tennis with my cousins.  Spent a whole day fishing with my brother once, not fishing though just staring at the wriggling maggot that I was to scared to put on the hook!

A favourite memory though is boating on the lake in summer and ice skating on home-made ice skates in the winter!

John and Roger get ready to tee off... Doesn't John's garden look magnificent?

A  nostalgic evening at Sheffield High School.  Maria and I were tea ladies for the evening and then onto a magnificent evening of classical and modern music.

It was an amazing evening especially considering that the "Voices of Jessop Wing" choir has only been in existence for just over a year.  All of the choir members work on the Jessop wing at Sheffield's Hallamshire Hospital.  The actual Jessops Hospital, where I was born as a  premmie baby over 60yrs ago, has been demolished.  Just like all of the houses I lived in.  Good job I'm not rich and famous cos they wouldn't have anywhere to put my blue plaque!

Lunch at the Millstone with Dot.... one of the BIGGEST risottos I've ever eaten.

Just love the view ... hear mum's voice ringing in my ears "Hello Mr Toad"  and "Look out here comes the surprise!"

Longshaw is another family favourite.  I remember we would pack our packs, with homemade baps and cakes, tea swirled into paper, and a cup each.  We would  catch the bus and head out here.  In summer we would play in the cool stream and in winter walk through the snowy landscape.  The local pub supplied us with boiling water....Fond memories.
