On the road to Espot

We set off on our first expedition in Maria's ancient blue Honda... An adventure in itself!  The roads start off wide,  flat and clear and we drive lightheartedly through the arid landscape.  We see small villages perched on top of hills, but they are not for us!  Our journey takes us through tunnels along incredibly tiny winding roads, where wild horses and cows appear without warning... Oh my goodness, just look at that sat nav!

Oh my goodness... look at the actual road!

Ah! We arrive
.... amazingly... Love it.  Mountain air, the heat of Barcelona far behind us and the temptations of walking in the Pyrenees before us!

There is nothing like walking in the pure air of the mountains.

La Cantata

Let the music begin...Oh if only it had!

At the beginning of "La Cantata" -  we watched excitedly as the the orchestra took up their positions, the singers strode onto the stage - we were in for a wonderful night of music - or so we thought.

"La cantata és un viatge històrico-emocional que té com a punt de partida la consciència i el record de la història del nostre país a partir dels inicis del segue"  Ah! Music through the ages we thought.

In fact it was an "historical and emotional journey of the history of Catalunya from the beginning of the century"  ... spoken in Catalan with a smattering of music.

The 2hr performance was never ending.

If only we could have retired to that lovely piano bar!

Its a long, hot walk in Sant Cugat

We discover walking in Sant Cugat is not the cool experience of the Pyrenees!

Ey up!

Thanks Sue for  preparing us for our return to UK with Yorkshire airlines!
